WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has agreed to pause planned further consolidation of the postal service's processing network after a bipartisan group of senators raised concerns about the impact on mail deliveries.

In a letter to Senator Gary Peters made public on Monday, DeJoy said he would pause the consolidation of processing facility operations until at least January 2025.

ZURICH (Reuters) - Artificial intelligence is hitting the global labour market "like a tsunami" International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said on Monday.

Artificial intelligence is likely to impact 60% of jobs in advanced economies and 40% of jobs around the world in the next two years, Georgieva told an event in Zurich.

(Reuters) - Gold prices fell 1% on Monday on profit-taking, as investors looked forward to key inflation figures this week for clues on the U.S. interest rate cuts this year.

Spot gold fell 1% to $2,336.76 per ounce by 1745 GMT. It had hit its highest level since April 22 on Friday.

U.S. gold futures settled 1.3% lower at $2,343.

(Reuters) - Volkswagen is exploring the sale of as much as1 billion euros ($1.08 billion) worth of stock in its heavy truckmaking arm Traton SE, Bloomberg News reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The German automaker is talking to potential advisers about the stake sale to institutional investors via an accelerated bookbuilding deal as soon as the next few weeks, the report added.

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Firefighters in western Canada on Monday battled a large wildfire just outside the largely-evacuated remote town of Fort Nelson in British Columbia, a local official said.

Fort Nelson is in the line of one of the season's first major wildfires that have spread to roughly 10,000 hectares (24,710 acres) across Western Canada and are sending plumes of smoke across five Canadian provinces, as well as parts of northern Minnesota.
