BANGUI (Reuters) - Prosecutors in Central African Republic say they have detained a European employee of a U.S.-based non-governmental organisation on suspicion of being a threat to state security and seeking to incite revolt against security forces.

Russian missile injures 13 near Ukraine's Kharkiv, prosecutors say Jun 1, 2024 02:32PM

(Reuters) - A Russian missile hit residences in Balakliia in Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region on Saturday, injuring 13 people including eight children, prosecutors said.

Pictures posted online showed homes in the town southeast of Kharkiv reduced to rubble.

UKMTO and Ambrey report incident near Yemen's Hodeidah Jun 1, 2024 02:13PM

CAIRO (Reuters) -The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) on Saturday reported an incident 48 nautical miles southwest of Yemen's Hodeidah where the vessel's master witnessed an explosion a significant distance from the ship.

The Houthi militia, which controls the most populous parts of Yemen and is aligned with Iran, has attacked ships off its coast for months, saying it is acting in solidarity with Palestinians fighting Israel in Gaza.

Qatari PM hopes Gaza ceasefire proposal will be received positively Jun 1, 2024 02:00PM

CAIRO (Reuters) - Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said on Saturday that mediators hope all parties will deal positively with the principles of a Gaza ceasefire proposal that U.S. President Joe Biden laid out on Friday.

Al Thani made the remarks during a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Qatar's state news agency said.
