BEIJING, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday sent a message of condolences to Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari over last week's deadly explosion in Islamabad.
Xi "strongly condemned the violence and terrorist acts against innocent civilians", and said China would support Pakistan in fighting terrorism, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency.

LONDON, Feb 9 (Reuters) - The son of jailed Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai appealed to the British government on Monday to do "much more" to secure his elderly father's release and he criticised Prime Minister Keir Starmer's efforts to reset London's relations with Beijing.

Feb 9 (Reuters) - Canadian miner Vizsla Silver said on Monday workers who were abducted from the company's project site in Concordia, Mexico, have been found dead.
Last month, the Vancouver-based company had reported that 10 of its workers were abducted from its Panuco project in Mexico.
The miner said it is awaiting confirmation from the Mexican authorities and will provide further updates.

FRANKFURT, Feb 9 (Reuters) - A major deviation in economic and inflation trends would be needed for the European Central Bank to consider changing policy, Slovak central bank chief Peter Kazimir said on Monday, just days after the bank kept interest rates unchanged.
