US to provide nearly $200 million to contain bird flu spread on dairy farms May 10, 2024 12:54PM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Biden administration said on Friday it will provide nearly $200 million to fight the spread of avian flu among dairy cows, in the government's latest bid to contain outbreaks that have fueled concerns about human infections with the H5N1 virus.

Downside risks for Pakistan remain exceptionally high, says IMF May 10, 2024 12:41PM

KARACHI, Pakistan (Reuters) - Downside risks for the Pakistani economy remain exceptionally high, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Friday, in its staff report on the country, ahead of talks with the fund on a longer term progamme.

An International Monetary Fund mission is expected to visit Pakistan this month to discuss a new programme, ahead of Islamabad beginning its annual budget-making process for the next financial year.

Mexico's presidential frontrunner Sheinbaum's lead narrows slightly, poll shows May 10, 2024 12:37PM

MONTERREY, Mexico (Reuters) - Former Mexico City mayor and ruling party candidate Claudia Sheinbaum's lead has narrowed slightly ahead of Mexico's presidential election scheduled for June 2, an opinion poll showed on Friday, even as she remains the clear frontrunner.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden's warning to Israel that he could withhold some arms supplies has shaken Israelis used to relying on their main ally at a time when the country faces widening political splits and growing isolation over the war in Gaza.
