(Reuters) - Futures tracking the Nasdaq leapt on Thursday on gains in heavyweight technology stocks, aided by broadly unchanged bets on the Federal Reserve easing interest rates in September despite the central bank projecting just one cut this year.

BERLIN (Reuters) - Ukraine needs more air defences within weeks to allow repairs to the half of its power infrastructure destroyed by Russian attacks, or it will not be able to meet demand in the winter, the country's energy minister told Reuters.
German Galushchenko said Russia was intensifying its attacks on power systems, making repairs difficult and choking supplies.

TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan's central bank said on Thursday it saw inflation gradually coming down for the rest of the year but the overall tone of monetary policy remained hawkish.
Taiwan's inflation has never been as high as in major Western economies - the consumer price index (CPI) in May rose by 2.24% - but the central bank has made bringing it down a priority.
