SHOMPOLE, Kenya, Feb 6 (Reuters) - The dozens of cow and goat carcasses scattered around Maria Katanga's family compound testify to the grinding impact of an ongoing drought on Kenya's pastoralist communities who rely on livestock for survival.
Since August, the 24-year-old Maasai herder has lost more than 100 cattle and 300 goats to drought - and the animals still in her care are too emaciated to produce milk.

WASHINGTON, Feb 6 (Reuters) - A federal grand jury returned an indictment charging a 33-year-old man with threatening to kill U.S. Vice President JD Vance during his visit to the Ohio region in January, the Justice Department said on Friday.
Shannon Mathre, of Toledo, Ohio, is accused of making a threat to take the life of, and to inflict bodily harm upon, Vance, the Justice Department said in a statement.

MEXICO CITY, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Mexican authorities said on Friday that at least one body matching the characteristics of one of 10 mine workers who were kidnapped from a mine in northern Sinaloa state late last month was found in a clandestine grave.

Feb 6 (Reuters) - AI startup Anthropic is ironing out the final details on a funding round likely to raise more than $20 billion and slated to close as soon as next week, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing sources.
Reuters could not immediately verify the report. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
