Airline taxation should remain in headquarter country, airline body IATA says Jun 3, 2024 04:51AM

DUBAI (Reuters) - The United Nations should not change a convention on how global airlines are taxed, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said on Monday, cautioning that doing so would add complexity and cost, and might cause routes to be scrapped.

No need to reduce aviation growth to hit net zero, IATA head says Jun 3, 2024 04:49AM

DUBAI (Reuters) - The head of the global airline body IATA said there was no need to reduce growth in global aviation in order to meet an industry target to meet net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The International Air Transport Association Director General Willie Walsh said the costs of the transition to net zero would have to be passed on to passengers.

GameStop soars 90% after super bull Keith Gill's Reddit post shows $116 million bet Jun 3, 2024 04:48AM

(Reuters) - Shares in Gamestop surged by over 90% in premarket trading on Monday, after a weekend Reddit post from stocks influencer Keith Gill, known as "Roaring Kitty," showed a $116 million bet on the gaming retailer.

GameStop was the second-most actively traded stock, with 4.4 million shares changing hands by 4:30 a.m. ET.

Russia warns US against 'fatal' miscalculation in Ukraine Jun 3, 2024 04:47AM

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Monday the United States could face "fatal consequences" if it ignored Moscow's warnings not to let Ukraine use weapons provided by Washington to strike targets inside Russia.

Ryabkov was commenting on President Joe Biden's decision last week to approve the use of U.S.-supplied weapons to hit targets inside Russia that were involved in attacks on Ukraine's Kharkiv region.

UK factories return to growth, prices rise by most in a year, PMI shows Jun 3, 2024 04:45AM

LONDON (Reuters) - British manufacturers reported a return to growth last month after a long slowdown, according to a survey published on Monday, but the higher prices charged by firms may add to the Bank of England's caution about cutting interest rates.

The final reading of the S&P Global UK Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index for May rose to 51.2 from 49.1 in April, its highest since July 2022 when a surge in energy prices was starting to hit... (continue reading...)
