WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwired) -- 08/24/16 -- The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) and its Chair, Rep. Linda T. Sánchez, announced today that President Barack Obama and Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton will address the largest Latino gala in the country at CHCI's 39th Annual Awards Gala on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Walter E. This marks seven of the past nine years President Obama has addressed the CHCI Gala, going back to when he was a presidential candidate in 2008, and the second consecutive year that Secretary Clinton has appeared at the Gala.
"CHCI is proud to once again welcome President Obama to our Gala and to thank his administration for supporting Latino leadership over the past eight years," said Rep. Linda T. Sánchez, CHCI Chair. "We also look forward to hearing from Secretary Clinton to talk about her work on issues that impact Latino families, and how she would empower the Latino community if elected President."
CHCI's 39th Annual Awards Gala will convene the nation's largest and most prestigious gathering of Hispanic nonpartisan, public, and private sector leaders. The evening's festivities will include the presentation of the CHCI 2016 American Dream Medallion of Excellence in Education, Science, Medicine or Civil Rights to Anna Maria Chavez and the CHCI 2016 Medallion of Excellence in the Arts, Entertainment, Music or Sports to actor Cheech Marin.
