Amazon.com (AMZN) Could Buy Shelfari -Seattle PI

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) is in talks to purchase social networking startup for book lovers, Shelfari, for an undisclosed amount. According to sources, Amazon has previously taken out an unspecified stake in Shelfari.

According to The Seattle PI, "Shelfari is a social network that allows groups of people to create virtual bookshelves and share titles with friends."

Amazon.com, Inc. operates retail Web sites, as well as provides programs that enable third parties to sell their products on its Web sites in North America and internationally.
