Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE: WMI) (NYSE: WM) announced the change of its ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) from WMI to WM effective at the start of trading on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. The new symbol better represents the company's current logo.

"From our trucks to our uniforms, the very recognizable WM represents our company and our people.
