IBM (IBM) Signs Seven-Year Contract with Rogers Communications (RCI)
IBM (NYSE: IBM) has signed a seven-year contract with Rogers Communications, Inc (NYSE: RCI) for information technology (IT) services and support. This agreement represents a new business relationship for the two companies.
IBM will support Rogers' ongoing information technology transformation with a stable and highly available IT environment. To accommodate future growth, Rogers will have immediate access to IBM's state-of-the-art data center located outside Toronto. This will be linked to Rogers' existing data center facility using Rogers Business Services networking technology. IBM will also upgrade Rogers' existing data center facilities and storage capabilities over the next several years.[SM]

So what is the scoop
So what services are in this IBM-Rogers deal? Looks like data center space and storage refreshes. Is there more to this picture?
Too Bad
it is BAD decision taken by both parties, Rogers loosing IT jobs. and IBM will making them too close to bankrupt soon( with in next 7 year) I amSo sorry for canadains.. outsorcing is not good for this country
casualties
unfortunately there will be casualties and our heartless vps and execs are the only ones to benifit from this. a lot of us are going to lose our jobs or shipped out to ibm and later lose our jobs . no matter how you put it, this is a very heartless decision by rogers one that wouldn't have been made had Ted Rogers been around for it. Our new ceo nadir is definitely giving us the big screw job.
Symapthies
My sympathies go out to the Rogers employees transfered to IBM since it will be the end of their careers. They will work in a sweatshop environment, see any benefit they have cut then they will train their Indian and South American replacements.
