Twitter (TWTR) Seen as Ultimate #MarchMadness Play

As March Madness gets underway, some view Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) as the ultimate stock play on the famous basketball tourney. The company has already been promoting hash tag #MarchMadness ahead of the kickoff today.

The Round of 64 starts today and goes through March 20, with the favored University of Kentucky playing Hamtpon at 9:40PM ET in the Midwest region. The Notre Dame versus Northwestern game is already underway, also in the Midwest.

The Round of 32 is set for March 21-March 22. The Sweet Sixteen is March 26-27, The Elite Eight is March 28-29, The Final Four is April 4 and the Championship Game is April 6.

Remarkably the #MarchMadness hash tag is not a top trending item on Twitter in the U.S. at this point, although thousands of tweets have been flying in.

So while your chances of filling out a perfect bracket are slim-to-none, picking a stock winner may be easy.

Twitter shares are up 0.8% today.
