While Tesla Motors (Nasdaq: TSLA) shares have risen about 19 percent in the month of December, shorts haven't been taking any chances.
Latest market data has short interest on Tesla up 4.1 percent from the beginning through middle of December to 30,343,842 shares, or 37.5 percent of float. Short interest is up 19.5 percent from 25,390,455 shares reported for the middle of November.
While Tesla might have a solid product and good idea of where its going, prudent investors might keep an eye as institutional traders continue hedging moves to the upside.
