Should Research in Motion (RIMM) Buy Palm (PALM)?
Shares of Palm (Nasdaq: PALM) are flat today despite an article in the New York Post's Venture Beat suggesting that Research in Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM) should buy the floundering smartphone maker.
Writer Saad Fazil argues that Research in Motion's devices and OS have become fragmented and that its applications marketplace is struggling to compete with Apple’s App Store or Google’s Android Market. He said RIM’s hopes of modernizing its OS "are weakening day by day."
But its not to late for RIM to maintain its leading smartphone position, Fazil says. Buying Palm's strong WebOS could be the answer.
