Those that have ordered a new iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus from Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) in hopes of receiving the item on Friday might be disappointed if they live in one of several large cities.
The WSJ noted that the visit of Pope Francis could hamper logistics and deliveries in New York City, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia.
Apple noted that it was aware of the problem. The new iPhones will still go on sale in retail locations as expected on Friday, but the company will be unable to control home delivery of the device.
United Parcel Service (NYSE: EPS) said it will suspend both pickups and deliveries in three cities during Francis' visit, affecting a total of 28 zip codes.
In total, just over 400,000 e-commerce packages are at risk of a delay in affected areas. The number amounts to about 1.3 percent of total U.S. volume.
