Pentagon Plans on Opening Networks to Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOG) Devices (BBRY)

BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) shares are on watch following reports that the Pentagon plans to make it's networks a little more open.
The Pentagon will make its networks available to devices running Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iOS and Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android next February. About 100,000 tablets and smartphones will be included.
The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) plans to create a military mobile store and hire a contractor to build a system that might handle as many as 8 million devices. Currently, the Pentagon wants employees to have more "flexibility" in using commercial products on classified and unclassified networks, Bloomberg notes this afternoon.
News comes as BlackBerry recently released its BlackBerry 10 operating system to the masses. Currently, the Z10 smartphone, which is the first to run the operating system, is only for sale in the U.K., Canada, and India, though many more markets are expected to be added through the end of March.
Shares of BlackBerry are down 4.8 percent Tuesday, while Google and Apple are moving slightly higher.
