Is Yahoo's (Nasdaq: YHOO) Tumblr relevant? It isn't to one noted investor.
Carl Icahn has become known for dabbling in social media. He is fairly active on Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) at @carl_c_icahn and also has his Shareholders' Square Table blog for important communications with the public.
But, Icahn hasn't really felt the same about Tumblr. After joining and making his first post last August, Icahn subsequently only posted to the site one more time, despite making several posts to the other two communications outlets.
This doesn't mean Tumblr isn't still doing well, but, given how active Icahn is with the other two outlets, it does seem like the site is falling behind. Way behind.
Yahoo announced that it would acquire Tumblr back in 2013 for the tidy sum of $1.1 billion. Pundits have been voicing displeasure about the deal for at least a year, with Starboard Value Fund the most noted activist to call out the failed acquisition.
Shares of Yahoo! are up 1.4 percent.
