Nokia (NOK) Plans to Halt Symbian Sales, Become More Windows Phone Focused

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is finally going all-in with Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows Phone 8 platform.
The Financial Times reported Wednesday that Nokia will halt shipments of Symbian-equipped devices this summer. The company reported sales of 500,000 handsets with the operating system during Q113, which compares to 5.6 million Windows Phone devices.
As mentioned last week, sales of Nokia's Lumia 925 began in Germany on June 10th.
Symbian was said to hold about 1.8 percent of European mobile market share for the three months ended April 2013, down from 8 percent in the prior-year period. In China, Symbian still occupies about 2 percent of teh market.
Shares of Nokia are indicated lower Wednesday morning.
