Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) shares are making another strong run Wednesday -- so much so, some have been comparing the stock to the recent shining star Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks.

With Knicks on a six-game winning streak, Lin has been on a hot streak of his own. Under pressure, Lin appears to be the real deal; a recent buzzer-beater all but ending homelessness and poverty as the collective New York area provided enough positive energy, high-fives, and enthusiasm to bring about world peace and power Las Vegas for a month.

However, while Lin is a story of only a few weeks, Apple is a story for the generations. Watching Lin is entertaining even for those who don't watch basketball, but investing in Apple is even more fun as bank accounts continue to grow.

Maybe if more people bought Apple stock, we wouldn't have to worry about jobless claims. More people with jobs leads to happier, more productive people and communities. More productive communities encourage further growth, leading to more jobs, profits, and even happier people. Happier people would rather be nice and help out each other rather than seeking strife and harm.

Then world peace ensues.

Its one or the other: investing in Apple stock or watching Jeremy Lin play basketball will lead to world peace.

Apple shares are 2.6 percent higher on the session, while Jeremy Lin is hanging out somewhere in New York. Probably practicing.
