Jim Cramer Unloads on SeekingAlpha

October 31, 2011 11:50 AM EDT
Jim Cramer trashed financial blog SeekingAlpha on Twitter over the weekend, saying the popular financial blog is unfairly ripping off his brand.

Here's how it went down:

First Cramer said people that are following him and clicking on the "I just signed up for Clout (sic) button" will be blocked automatically. Immediately, Cramer got responses that he spelled "Klout" wrong. This triggered Cramer going off on other annoyances - namely financial blog SeekingAlpha.

"I spelled it wrong on purpose. I am tired of people building a brand using me, like Seeking Alpha."

"I am really down on sites that do nothing but chart me and scam me and use me to build their brands. It is pathetic."

"Did you ever see all of the Seeking Alpha links when you hit up my name? What a bunch of parasites they are...I can't stand it"

"The web is corrupt enough. We don't need every cockamamie site feeding at the Cramer trough because people key word me."

"These sites are all about scamming you and getting you to go to them by using my name. They provide nothing. Just pageviews."

"Look, every one of these sites have abused me to get pageviews. They know people click. What a bunch of scummers."

Then Cramer tried to move on from the topic...

"OKay, enough on Clout and Seeking Beta. I celebrating Birds win. I just can't stand the scumsuckers who have no standards..."

But they pulled him back in....

"These guys just want pageviews an then ads so they can go public or sell out. It is so transparent. Pathetic."

Then a SeekingAlpha writer tried to defend the financial blog...

@RoccoPendola said: "There's much more to it than that. You go after viewers, SA goes after visitors. All I'm saying is don't generalize"

Cramer would have none of it...

@jimcramer "It is nice to be defended but Seeking Alpha is just like a Russian pagewiew generator. It is all about getting a buyer"

He wasn't done:
"All i am saying is that for someone like me who works pretty hard it is galling to be scammed by these outfits."

Then Cramer offered a solution - pay him!
"Everyone knows i am a huge percentage of Seeking Beta's business. Everyone knows that. they should pay me!"

Then a confused investors essentially said 'what you talkin' bout Cramer'. He in turn reiterated his thoughts...
"Seeking Beta's a giant scammer of my brand. Don't people here see through that?"

Some others said the company Cramer founded TheStreet (NYSE: TST) is guilty of the same...
@phorque said "We get it. Stop pretending that TheStreet doesn't have a profit motive. Now get back to something important."

@jimcramer "Even thestreet doesnt link my brand like Seeking Beta and i wrote for it.
