Is An Apple (AAPL) iPhone Nano On The Way?

December 30, 2008 9:49 AM EST

MacRumors and AppleInsider are hinting that Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) may be launching an iPhone Nano at the annual MacWorld show. Two well-known case makers have updated their web catalogs to include protective cases for an Apple developed iPhone Nano in the near future.

On one of the sites, customers are taken to a page where they can sign up for iPhone nano cases. The site says, "Sign up for the upcoming release of our iPhone nano cases."

The Apple rumors sites point out that Apple is unlikely to inform these case makers of advanced product information, but they still may be able to obtain product specifications through other unconventional means.

On another note, marketers in Taiwan are already selling knock-off devices that may look similar to what the supposed Apple iPhone nano may look like.

Bad Rumor!
Joseph Lew1s on Dec 30, 2008 11:30 AM

This is a about a three week old rumor. It's actually quite funny because no one gets what the two case companies are doing, creating traffic for their sites. The first company just had a dead link that said "iPhone Nano", which was next to the iPhone case link. The other one had fake (according to the Photoshop experts) pictures. People have assuming that Apple would release an iPhone Nano since they first released the iPhone, but it makes no sense. For starters many of the applications written from the iPhone would not work on smaller product. And gestures would not work that well on a smaller screen (people have already complained about using gestures and typing on the regular iPhone screen, stating that it's too small). Oh yeah the picture on that site you sent me is ridiculous, all they did was shrink a real iPhone down by 50% and place it next to a full size image. A child would have a hard time holding onto a device that small.
