Google's (GOOG) Latest STB is Great...Except for the 'Google TV' Part (SNE)

According to a review from CNET earlier, one of the best features about Sony's (NYSE: SNE) new set-top-box featuring Google TV is the sleek design.
Gulp.
Google's next effort into capturing the hearts and remotes of millions of Americans is coming up short again. Sony's NSZ-GS7 STB, the second collaboration between the two, doesn't feature apps for popular services like Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX), Hulu Plus, MLB TV, or even Google's own movie rental service. That's just the start. Apps the reviewer tried to run were prone to crashing and restarting the system and Google Music needed to have the device connected to a PC for activation (which, ultimately failed).
The only way the DVR works is through a Dish Networks (Nasdaq: DISH) subscription.
What makes up for the flaws is being able to use Google's Chrome browser. So, if you need to DVR something, have a Dish account, feel like spending $200, and don't want to go through the trouble of connecting a laptop or PC to your TV, try the Sony NSZ-GS7 with Google TV. Of note, the author said the second version was vastly improved from the first.
Stocks to watch include those mentioned above along with DIRECTV (Nasdaq: DTV), TiVo (Nasdaq: TIVO), Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA), and EchoStar (Nasdaq: SATS).
Google shares are off 2.2 percent.
