Dell (DELL) Sees Action On Hopes For a Micheal Dell Takeover

Shares of PC maker Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) saw a pick-up in buying today as comments that Micheal Dell could take the company private made earlier by Lee Ainslie of Maverick Capital started making their way around Wall Street.

The comments were made earlier today by Ainslie at the Value Investing Congress in New York.

Ainslie, who owns the stock, said Mr. Dell is frustrated and could take the company private or the company could pay a large special dividend.

Shares of Dell have lagged for years. The stock is down 3 percent year-to-date and down 57 percent over the last 5-years.

In his presentation at the conference today, Ainslie said that tech stocks are the cheapest in 20 years and his fund's net long exposure to technology is 17%, its highest ever.

Shares of Dell surged as much as 3 percent mid-day on the speculation. They are currently up just 1 percent.
