"Those are some nice curves you got there!" - potential iPhone owners to their future devices.
Though it has been rumored that Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) might be working on a curved display in the past, that speculation is now hotter than ever. PatentlyApple reports that Apple might have an app in the works that curves glass through the combination of heat and a molding mechanism. The process is safer and simpler than using chemicals to get the glass to bend.
Curved glass not only gives a unique look to devices, but also makes larger panels easier to operate. Of course, given that Apple just nudged up the display on its latest iPhone to 4-inches, we would expected a curved glass structure to show up in the iPhone 10 or 11.
Then again, Apple might skip the process altogether. Both Samsung's Galaxy Nexus S and Dell's (Nasdaq: DELL) Venue Pro failed to gain as much traction as the companies would have hoped, BGR notes today.
Maybe Apple could work a little "Apple magic" with the curved form factor?
Apple might also apply the technology to other devices like the iPad or iPod. The iPad, even the smaller version, still might be a handful for some.
Apple ended the session down 1.4 percent Wednesday.
