Amazon (AMZN) Workers Can Be Jerks Sometimes

January 11, 2012 1:37 PM EST
No one can really argue that Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) is doing well. In fact, Amazon is doing so well that it recently moved it's Seattle headquarters from Beacon Hill to the South Lake Union district.

And did so to the chagrin of some residents, it seems.

According to reports from local media King 5 (awesome!), one or several residents (hereafter: Quizmasters) have taken to posting flyers around the area with sort of an impromptu quiz on it. The reason? To help Amazon workers determine whether they're an "Am-hole" or not.

Fear not, becoming an Am-hole isn't challenging; there are only six questions on the quiz. One of the questions, which is labeled as number '5,' asks the perplexing, "Do you not realize that you are working for an updated version of Sears and Roebuck so you should check yourself?"

Checked, Quizmasters. Checked.

For fairness, the quiz is aimed at the more cocky bunch of Amazon-ers. The ones who snap fingers at service people. Or occupy too much sidewalk space. Or even the ones the smell like a used car dealer (we're not sure if that's more offensive to the Amazon-er...or the dealer).

Despite hordes of Amazon workers simply working at Amazon for its career potential and challenging environment, and having no say-so in the location of the $80 billion retailers headquarters, it begs the question: did the Quizmasters ever order anything from Amazon? If so, how do they think it got processed?

Where should Amazon move its headquarters then? To Mars? The bottom of the ocean? Or worse...China?

Amazon currently occupies about two million square feet of space in the area, and keeps expanding. It's Seattle workforce is about 50,000 strong, though specific figures weren't given.

Shares of Amazon are flat Wednesday afternoon.
