Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq: ATVI) is on watch as World of Warcraft competitor Final Fantasy is gaining some strong traction.
The Squar Enix website today said the following about its MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn:
The news shouldn't be too shocking for Activision investors; with a recent press release, the company said World of Warcraft subs were down to 7.7 million in the most recent quarter. The subs loss comes following a 600,000 drop in the prior quarter and 1.3 million loss reported for 2012.
Activision is up 0.3 percent on Monday.
The Squar Enix website today said the following about its MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn:
Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, we are currently experiencing extremely long wait times for users to be able to log in and play. As a temporary measure, we will halt sales of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A REALM REBORN’s digital download products so we can accommodate all of those wishing to play. We are working to expand our server capacity in the coming days.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes.
