3-D Printing Meets Tesla's (TSLA) Model S

January 10, 2014 7:12 AM EST
Have a 3-D printer and a Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) Model S? Always wondered where to place your Starbucks coffee when driving?

There's a solution for you.

This is a 3-D printed solution for Tesla's center console issue. Currently, Tesla has a solution in the works, but it will set you back about $500. And, you can't really buy one right now.

The blueprints for the center console work with Stratasys' (Nasdaq: SSYS) MakerBot printer, which means that you can make it it in different colors if you happened not to opt for the Lightning Blue interior. (Disclosure: We're sure there's not a Lightning Blue interior option available on the Model S. Yet.)

While we're not sure about the ratio of Model S owners who also have a 3-D printer, this might be a good enough reason to get a few speculators off the fence.

Shares of Tesla are up in early trading.
