Military Background Made Petraeus Resignation Unavoidable

After serving his country for over four decades, former military man David Petraeus resigned his post as CIA director. The resignation is related to an extramarital affair.
Aside from obvious moral questions that are raised by the affair, considering Petraeus's military background, a resignation was likely unavoidable in this instance.
Petraeus was widely viewed a respected military and intelligence figure. In his resignation letter, Petraeus admitted he exercised "extremely poor judgment".
