Dynavax Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: DVAX) 30% HIGHER; NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE reported that a new approach to allergy therapy not only reduced the acute allergic responses of individuals with ragweed allergies but also sustained that effect for over 12 months. The novel treatment, called "AIC" in the paper, is a TLR9 agonist linked to ragweed allergen, developed by Dynavax.
Ikanos Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: IKAN) 30% LOWER; announced that preliminary revenue expectations for the third quarter are expected to be approximately $36 to $37 million. The Company previous guidance was $40 to $43 million. The consensus is $42 million. Additionally, the Company announced preliminary revenue estimates for its fourth quarter to be approximately $24 to $26 million. The consensus is $43.3 million.
Curis, Inc., (NASDAQ: CRIS) 24% HIGHER; announced that Genentech (NYSE: DNA), a collaborator, has filed an Investigational New Drug (IND) application with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to initiate Phase I clinical testing of a systemically administered small molecule Hedgehog antagonist for the treatment of cancer. Under the terms of the parties' June 2003 collaboration agreement, Genentech will pay Curis a $3 million dollar cash payment after filing the IND application.
GenVec, Inc. (Nasdaq: GNVC) 21% HIGHER; said it could receive up to $52 million under a new, five-year contract with the exercise of annual renewal options by NIAID, to support the transfer of its manufacturing and purification processes to the Dale and Betty Bumpers Vaccine Research Center's (VRC) Vaccine Pilot Plant in Frederick, Maryland to further clinical development of an HIV vaccine, including development of a larger-scale manufacturing and product-release process necessary for further HIV vaccine production.
Intermec, Inc. (NYSE: IN) 19% LOWER; revises third quarter revenue guidance. Intermec expects revenue to be in a range of $192 million to $196 million for the third quarter of fiscal year 2006. This compares with earlier guidance of $230 million to $240 million. The consensus is $237.23 million
Dobson Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DCEL) 12% HIGHER; announced that it added approximately 23,500 net subscribers in the third quarter of 2006.
Hot Topic, Inc. (Nasdaq: HOTT) 10.8% LOWER; said comparable store sales for five weeks ended September 30, 2006 fell 7.3%. For the quarter ending October 28, 2006, the company expects to be at the low end of the previously issued third quarter earnings guidance range of $0.16 to $0.18 per diluted share. The consensus is $0.16.
Focus Enhancements, Inc. (NASDAQ: FCSE) 9.7% HIGHER; now expects total revenue for the third quarter of 2006 to be approximately $11.5 million, compared to prior guidance of approximately $10.0 million given by the company on August 10, 2006. This third quarter 2006 preliminary revenue represents an increase of over 65 percent from the $6.9 million in reported revenue for the third quarter of 2005.
Ameristar Casinos, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASCA) 9% HIGHER; revised previously issued third quarter financial guidance and currently estimate operating income of $43.0 million to $44.0 million (increased from prior guidance of $36.0 million to $38.0 million), EBITDA of $67.0 million to $68.0 million (increased from prior guidance of $61.0 million to $63.0 million) and diluted earnings per share of $0.35 to $0.36 (increased from prior guidance of $0.27 to $0.29).
Helen of Troy Limited (Nasdaq: HELE) 8.3% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.35, 7 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $147.17 million vs. $136.62 million consensus.
Trimeris Inc. (Nasdaq: TRMS) 7.7% HIGHER; said new data presented at the 46th annual Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy in San Francisco indicate that nearly all treatment-experienced HIV patients who initiated therapy with FUZEON and the investigational integrase inhibitor MK-0518 in a clinical trial achieved undetectable levels of HIV. The companies said such response rates have never been attained in clinical trials of HIV patients living with drug-resistant virus.
TASER International Inc. (Nasdaq: TASR) 7% HIGHER; Receives Several Orders for TASER X26 Devices; expects third quarter 2006 revenue to be approximately $18 million.
Zumiez, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZUMZ) 6% HIGHER; comparable store sales increased 14.9%

Starbucks Corp. (Nasdaq: SBUX) 5.8% HIGHER; on comparable store sales basis (stores open for at least 13 months), sales at Company-operated stores increased 6% for the five weeks ended October 1, 2006
Copart (Nasdaq: CPRT) 4.8% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.33, 4 cents better than estimates.(0.29) Revenues were $137.2 million vs. $130.40 million consensus.
Diodes Inc. (Nasdaq: DIOD) 4.4% LOWER; expects third quarter sequential revenue growth to be slightly better than 11.5%, updated from the prior 9-11% guidance. Separately, Diodes filed to offer $200 million aggregate principal amount of convertible senior notes due 2026.
TJX Companies Inc. (NYSE: TJX) 4% HIGHER; said consolidated comparable store sales for the five-week period ended September 30, 2006, increased 9% over last year. The company is raising their third quarter earnings per share outlook to $0.44 - $0.45, versus the consensus of $0.41.
Arrow International (Nasdaq: ARRO) 3.7% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.39, 1 cents better than estimates.(0.38) Revenues were $129.2 million vs. $125.95 million consensus. For the full fiscal year 2007, the Company is targeting net sales of $515 million to $525 million, versus the consensus of $524 million. The Company is targeting diluted earnings per share of $1.40 to $1.48 for the full fiscal year 2007, assuming a 35.0% effective tax rate. The consensus is $1.56. If legislation extending the R&D tax credit is not passed this Fall, Arrow's fiscal year 2007 tax expense could be increased by $1.3 million, or $0.03 per share, which could increase the 2007 effective tax rate from 35.0% to approximately 36.5%.
Acuity Brands, Inc. (NYSE: AYI) 1% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.93, 8 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $674.5 million vs. $644.02 million consensus.
Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) 1% LOWER; said comparable sales increased 4%
Target Corp. (TGT) 0.5% HIGHER; comparable-store sales increased 6.7 percent from fiscal September 2005. Now expect to produce third quarter earnings per share above the current median First Call estimate of 53 cents
Kopin Corporation (NASDAQ: KOPN) INDICATED LOWER; revising its third-quarter revenue guidance. Kopin expects that revenue for the three months ended September 30, 2006 will be approximately $14 million to $15 million, compared with the Company's previous guidance of $19 million to $20.5 million. The consensus is $20 million.

Hot Topic, Inc. (Nasdaq: HOTT) 10.8% LOWER; said comparable store sales for five weeks ended September 30, 2006 fell 7.3%. For the quarter ending October 28, 2006, the company expects to be at the low end of the previously issued third quarter earnings guidance range of $0.16 to $0.18 per diluted share. The consensus is $0.16.
Focus Enhancements, Inc. (NASDAQ: FCSE) 9.7% HIGHER; now expects total revenue for the third quarter of 2006 to be approximately $11.5 million, compared to prior guidance of approximately $10.0 million given by the company on August 10, 2006. This third quarter 2006 preliminary revenue represents an increase of over 65 percent from the $6.9 million in reported revenue for the third quarter of 2005.

Arrow International (Nasdaq: ARRO) 3.7% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.39, 1 cents better than estimates.(0.38) Revenues were $129.2 million vs. $125.95 million consensus. For the full fiscal year 2007, the Company is targeting net sales of $515 million to $525 million, versus the consensus of $524 million. The Company is targeting diluted earnings per share of $1.40 to $1.48 for the full fiscal year 2007, assuming a 35.0% effective tax rate. The consensus is $1.56.
