UPWARD MOVERS:
Digene Corp. (Nasdaq: DIGE) +$13.07; QIAGEN N.V. (Nasdaq: QGEN) and Digene announced a definitive agreement to combine the two companies to create market- and technology-leadership in molecular diagnostics. The acquisition consideration will consist of cash and QIAGEN stock, and Digene shareholders may elect to receive for each Digene share either US$61.25 in cash or 3.545 shares of QIAGEN stock.

Atlas Pipeline Holdings, L.P. (NYSE: AHD) +$7.23; Atlas America, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATLS), which owns 17.5 million limited partner units of Atlas Pipeline Holdings, L.P. (NYSE: AHD) representing an 83% limited partner interest, announced that Atlas Pipeline Partners, L.P. (NYSE: APL) has signed definitive agreements to acquire control of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation's (NYSE: APC) interests in the Chaney Dell and Midkiff/Benedum natural gas gathering and processing systems for $1.85 billion.

IntercontinentalExchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE) +$4.95; ICE has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire ChemConnect, Inc.'s commodity trading business. ChemConnect is the leading electronic marketplace for the $150 billion U.S. natural gas liquids (NGLs) and chemicals markets. Utilized by the world's largest producers and consumers of NGLs and chemicals, ChemConnect has established a 10-year track record in expanding the markets for such products and providing hedging opportunities for its market participants through specialized products and services.

Scholastic Corporation (NASDAQ: SCHL) +$4.53; Entered into a $200 million accelerated share repurchase agreement with Deutsche Bank. Pursuant to this agreement, the Company expects to repurchase an estimated 14% of its currently outstanding common stock.

1-800 CONTACTS, INC. (Nasdaq: CTAC) +$4.00; Company entered into a definitive merger agreement with affiliates of Fenway Partners, LLC pursuant to which Fenway Partners will acquire 1-800 CONTACTS for $24.25 per share.


DOWNWARD MOVERS:
LDK SOLAR CO., LTD. (NYSE: LDK) -$3.04; Last Friday's IPO (priced at $27) has sold off the past two sessions after opening higher.

Force Protection Inc. (Nasdaq: FRPT) -$2.95; Today's move may be attributed to profit taking after recent run-up. Also, FRPT's chairman disclosed selling 111,343 shares recently.

UAL Corporation (Nasdaq: UAUA) -$2.88; Major Airlines sector/industry down 2.95% today.

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: REGN) -$2.54; Sanofi-aventis (NYSE: SNY) and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: REGN) announced preliminary results from two Phase II studies in advanced ovarian cancer and lung cancer with aflibercept (VEGF Trap), an anti- angiogenic agent targeting Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor.

Continental Airlines, Inc. (NYSE: CAL) -$2.44; Major Airlines sector/industry down 2.95% today.
