Analyst Comments on Potential Hydraulic Fracturing Ban in Colorado
Colorado is unlikely to ban state-wide hydraulic fracturing, said analyst David Tameron of Wells Fargo. Comments follow a call with Colorado political expert Floyd Ciruli.
"Bottom line is a state-wide ban does not seem likely; the fight will take place on the local/municipality level, but the shape/form of restrictive measures remains unclear," said Tameron
"April 4 is the last day for ballot proposals, August 4 the last day to collect a relatively low ~86k signatures and put the measure on the November ballot. In our view, less draconian yet vague restrictions make their way onto the ballot and pass, leaving laws open to legal/political battles; could also open the door for lawsuits against E&Ps, which could impede DJ progress. Colorado will continue to attract nation-wide attention as November approaches," he added.
