National Hurricane Center Sees Active Season for 2008
The National Hurricane Center (based in Miami) has forecast an active 2008 weather season, seeing up to 9 hurricanes and 12 tropical storms in the Atlantic region.
The hurricane season, which begins this Sunday and goes through the end of November. The staff feels five storms could reach destructive levels, meaning Category 3 or higher.
Severe storms can have impact on many industries from Oil and Oil drillers (in the Gulf of Mexico), to home builders/materials to restaurants as well as many others.
