Markit will be releasing new U.S. data in just a few short minutes.

According to a May 8th press release:

"Markit today announced it is adding the United States of America to its Flash Purchasing Managers’ Index™ (PMI™) family, a series of advance estimates of final PMI data.

The Markit Flash U.S. Manufacturing PMI will be the earliest available indicator of business conditions across the U.S. manufacturing sector each month. It will also complement Markit’s Flash China and Flash Eurozone PMIs to make the Flash series the first snapshot of global manufacturing operating conditions every month.

Markit has been collecting PMI data from U.S. manufacturers since May 2007. The company’s survey panel now comprises over 600 manufacturers from across the U.S. The Markit Flash U.S. Manufacturing PMI will be based on 85–90% of total PMI survey responses and will be followed by the release of final U.S.

Manufacturing PMI data by Markit on the first working day of every month.
The first Markit Flash U.S. Manufacturing PMI will be released on Reuters at 08:58 EDT on May 24 2012."
