The third quarter earnings season is officially unofficially starting tomorrow, after the market closes, as aluminum giant Alcoa (NYSE: AA) will be posting their earnings for the quarter. The company is expected to report an EPS of $0.06 on revenues of $4.95 billion.
Earnings for the quarter may have some high expectations out of investors, following one of the most successful September runs that the markets have seen in several decades. Names such as Oracle, AMD, Netflix, Atmel, and MGM all ended the month locking in near or better than 20% gains. The Dow finished up 5.1%, Nasdaq up 8.8% and S&P ended 5.6% better. For the most part, stocks did even better for the three-month period, and job numbers and Fed comments peppered confidence back into the investment community.
