Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) said to work on Windows server for ARM Holdings (Nasdaq: ARMH)-based machines
UPDATE - Bloomberg reports the Microsoft is already testing a Windows Server running the ARM-based chips, but hasn't decided whether or not to make the software commercially available.
The move could rile Intel (Nasdaq: INTC), which has been a dedicated partner of Microsoft's for a number of years.
Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) began offering a version of its Moonshot servers that run on ARM-based technology this year. The processors are provided via Applied Micro Circuits (Nasdaq: AMCC).
Shares of Microsoft, Intel, and ARM Holdings are all lower Monday.
