Amazon.com (AMZN) Streaming Music Service Might Debut Without One Key Label (P)

June 12, 2014 6:48 AM EDT

Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) is expected to release its streaming music service soon, but might have hit a speed bump in the process.

According to Bloomberg, Universal Music Group isn't going along with Amazon's lump-sum offer for access to its music catalog, deeming the offer too low.

Despite the move by Universal, Amazon is still expected to unveil its streaming music service. It just won't include songs from Universal artists.

Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group are on board with Amazon.

Amazon's goal with its streaming service isn't to have the latest-and-greatest music available, but rather songs that are several months old. The service will be part of the Amazon Prime product, which currently costs $99 per year.

Pandora (NYSE: P) and Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) will be on watch as the service rolls out. Shares of Amazon are positive in early trading.
