Walgreens (WAG) June Comp Sales Up 3.4%
Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) had June sales of $5,236,400,000, an increase of 9.0% from $4,804,867,000 for the same month in 2008. Sales in comparable stores increased 3.4 percent.
Comparable store front-end sales decreased 0.9% versus last year's June increase of 3.4%. Front-end sales were hurt by softer sales of seasonal items compared to last year.
June pharmacy sales increased 11.0 percent, while comparable pharmacy sales increased 5.8 percent. Comparable pharmacy sales were negatively impacted by 4.4 percentage points due to generic drug introductions in the last 12 months.
