UBS conducted a survey which showed Apple’s (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone has an 89 percent retention rate -- over double the roughly 39 percent held by its main rival HTC.

The retention rate for RIM’s (Nasdaq: RIMM) Blackberry tumbled sharply from 62 percent to 33 percent over the past year and a half. Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has been experiencing a similar decline to RIM’s. The UBS analyst noted RIM and Nokia users are switching to Apple’s iPhone and at a slightly lesser extent, Samsung and HTC.

With only 6 percent of people in the survey admitting they were for sure switching from their iPhone, and 4 percent stating they were currently undecided, Apple’s retention rate may be as high as 94 percent.
