at 11:40 PM USEC Today we observed option traders move en masse to freshly short in apparent confidence that its shares will not make a new pass above current levels before February's expiration. Heading into today, option traders held more than twice as many call positions as puts, which is often a sign of prevailing bullish sentiment, but the cataclysmic erosion of its share price - and the fact that option traders are pricing in 25% more price risk to USEC shares than is already apparent in that price erosion - tells a much different story.

at 07:27 PM USEC 7 USEC BOARD MEMBERS STEP DOWN Members of a USEC advisory board resigned on 8/15/03, angry because they say they don't know where your tax dollars are going. The Board's job was to oversee clean-up at Paducah's gaseous diffusion plant, but some board members claim they were not being taken seriously by the DOE & USEC. "This board has become nothing but a showpiece for the DOE," claimed boardmember Mark Donham, "so they can point at us and say what a great job DOE and USEC does for the public. It's really pretty much of a sham." Resigned members claim DOE and USEC are withholding key information regarding severe environmental problems at the site, which are important to the clean-up process. Board members claim virtually all their recommendations for clean up have been ignored. As a result, information delays hinder work and sometimes appear to be intentionally hiding problems in the clean up process. DOE's and USEC's actions "indicate a desire to ignore fundamental federal regulations for cleanup and waste handling and a willingness to VIOLATE DOE's OWN GUIDELINES."
