Article: Auxilium Pharmaceuticals (AUXL) XIAFLEX for the Treatment of Dupuytren's Contracture Receives Priority Review From the FDA
on Jul 25, 2008
at 12:16 PM Xialfex The Citi analyst is missing the boat entirely. Not only is the market for Duputyren's larger than thought... based upon many patients going to doctors and are told there is nothing a doctor can do other than surgery, thereby patients never coming back to the physician...but.. and it is a big but...there are many other applications for XIAFLEX that are not now being evaluated yet offer tremendous potential for use. For example, as an "off label" indication. If approved for Dupuytren's does anyone not believe that patients would not seek out a urologist to use the XIAFLEX to treat Peyronie's prior to gaining FDA approval if it means being able to obtain a healthy and normal erection and have satisfactory sex.. How much would any man pay for being able to enjoy a "normal" sex life? Nowhere is it mentioned of the potential of XIAFLEX to be used in the burn marketplace to treat horrific scarring. Nowhere is it mentioned that XIAFLEX has the potential to treat keloids in patients with hyperpigmented skin. How many patients would beg and borrow money to be able to reduce a facial scar that can be so disfiguring, or to treat earlobes that are enlarged to the size of grapes due to an ear piercing procedure that "went bad?" There are other potential indications as well. The analyst is so wrong he/she should reexamine his/her positon after going out into the marketplaces and determing the true potential for this possibly explosive drug intervention. It is sad that folks right artilces/editorials that persude/dissaude folks from purchasing stock, and yet the so-called experts are really not experts at all.u
