Virtual Artifacts Announces Hibe Launch

Mobile application network fundamentally changes online communication tools through unique approach to sharing and connecting

MONTREAL, May 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Virtual Artifacts (VA), an internet technology company focused on innovating the digital experience, announced today plans to launch Hibe, a network of mobile applications that mirrors real-life interactions and expands how we currently utilize digital technology in our everyday lives.

Hibe operates on context-aware algorithm which allows a substantial privacy upgrade compared to current online communication tools. This proprietary technology has garnered attention from and conversations with some of the most notable online companies and social networks.

"We've been able to attract the attention of big players because our technology is radically different to what's already out there, and it has the potential to genuinely change how we interact online," said VA Founder and CEO Jean Dobey. "The Hibe technology has been the missing link between our offline lives and our digital selves thus far. We will finally be able to seamlessly manage our online lives to match our physical lives — something the big players have been trying to develop for years."

Hibe offers users the ability to create multiple contexts, called Facets along with a specific persona, and include only the appropriate contacts in conversations and sharing. Unlike most online communication tools, where you share everything or nothing by default, Hibe allows you to decide who has access to every communication on a granular level and what identity you want to portray to each audience—Something radically in the opposite of the "Real Name policy" of current big players. Not only can users separate business activities/contacts from personal activities/contacts, every post can be directed to one, several or all of their audiences. For example, a user may share the same photo with friends under one identity, and family members under another identity—resulting in two separate intimate conversations.

In short, the Hibe technology eliminates the need for privacy controls, as the platform operates on an opt-in rather than an opt-out mindset.

"Conversely to all big players who want us to be the same person to (i.e. use the same identity for)  all of our audiences, at Hibe we think differently. We believe that we are not the same person to everyone in our physical lives and it shouldn't be different online. Being able to adapt our identity and activities depending on the context will ultimately allow us to fully enjoy the many facets of our lives online," said Dobey.

Hibe operates as a network of mobile applications rather than a social network. Users decide what they want to present, to whom, and as what persona. Users can employ multiple personas including anonymous. With Hibe, mobile applications are also transitioning to integrated tools that offer a continued online user experience from one application to the other—conversely to siloed experience offered by conventional applications that that don't talk to one another.

The first three Hibe mobile applications will be available for download through the Apple App and Google Play stores in June. To find out more about these applications or future Hibe tools, please visit: www.hibe.com.
