Dollar General (DG) Misses Q1 EPS by 1c, Guides for Q2 and Full-Year

Dollar General (NYSE: DG) reports Q1 EPS of $0.15, 1 cent worse than estimates. Revenues were $2.15 billion vs. $2.14 billion consensus.

The Company expects diluted earnings per share ("EPS") of between $1.09 and $1.16 for fiscal 2006, including a charge of approximately $0.01 per share relating to the expensing of stock options. Current consensus is $1.15.

For the second quarter ending August 4, 2006, the Company expects EPS to be between $0.18 and $0.22. Current consensus is $0.23

For the May period, same-store sales increased 1.3% compared to an increase of 4.4% in the four-week period ended May 27, 2005.
