Market Expects Rumored Lender Processing Services (LPS) Buyout to Go Smoothly

May 23, 2013 1:04 PM EDT
Shares of Lender Processing Services, Inc. (NYSE: LPS) opened higher on Thursday, a move tied to reports yesterday evening in WSJ claiming Fidelity National Financial and Thomas H. Lee Partners was in advanced talks to buy the lender.

The purchase price is said to be $2.9 billion, said WSJ, citing sources. This would value Lender Processing Services, Inc. at roughly $33/share. Given today's impressive rally to $32.70, investors are obviously giving the report credence. A deal is expected to be announced next week.
