QIWI plc (Nasdaq: QIWI) is modestly higher following the commencement of its 12.5 million common share IPO Friday morning. The company is s a leading provider of next generation payment services in Russia and the CIS.
Peers in the payments sector are also seeing a little pop, along with enthusiasm from broader markets today. Names traders are keeping an eye on include Moneygram International (NYSE: MGI), Verifone (NYSE: PAY), eBay's (Nasdaq: EBAY) PayPal, NCR Corp. (NYSE: NCR), Diebold (NYSE: DBD), and a slew of others.
At $215 million, QIWI isn't the largest player in the payments sector. But, it does have a key presence in Russia and several other states in the area which still have rich crude deposits and could potentially see more upside on the shift the global economy.
