Goldman Sachs today maintained a Buy rating on MetLife (NYSE: MET) with a price target of $45.00. This morning MetLife shares moved higher after it announced a nearly 50 percent dividend increase to $0.275 per quarter from $0.185, its first increase since 2007.

Commenting on the news, analyst Christopher Giovanni said, "We estimate there is a 25%+ regulatory overhang discount for MET and Prudential Financial (NYSE: PRU). We believe this overhang will decline as greater clarity on non-bank SIFI emerges and indications of greater shareholder value (consistent with MET's dividend increase) begin to accelerate, driving multiple expansion."
