STAAR Surgical Company (Nasdaq: STAA) up 13.4%; announced that first quarter revenue is expected to be approximately $18 million, which would represent approximately 16% growth. All revenue comparisons are to the same period prior year results. The effect of foreign currency exchange reduced total company revenue by approximately $750,000 during the quarter. Visian ICL revenue grew approximately 24%, exceeding the $10 million level in quarterly revenue for the first time in the Company's history. STAAR is reporting the preliminary results due to previously scheduled meetings with investors on April 11-12 and the upcoming American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons Annual Conference. Final results for the first quarter are expected to be released on May 1, 2013. The Street sees Q1 revenue of $16.46 million.
OCZ Technology Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: OCZ) down 11.7%; announced that as a result of the ongoing restatement process, the Company will not meet the previously disclosed April 8, 2013 NASDAQ extension date to become current in its periodic report filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Company has made substantial progress on the restatement for the prior periods and expects to complete the restatement process and make its regulatory filings as soon as practicable.
JCPenney (NYSE: JCP) up 5.2%; CEO Ron Johnson is said to have lost his job, according to CNBC. JCPenney issued a release announcing the news shortly thereafter.
Cousins Properties Incorporated (NYSE: CUZ) down 3.5%; has commenced an underwritten public offering of 14.0 million shares of its common stock. The underwriters are expected to be granted a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 2.1 million shares.
Schulman (Nasdaq: SHLM) down 3.5%; reported Q2 EPS of $0.27, $0.13 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.40. Revenue for the quarter came in at $522.4 million versus the consensus estimate of $526.4 million. Sees FY2013 EPS of $2.08-$2.13, versus prior guidance of $2.14-$2.19 and the consensus of $2.18.
Mistras Group (NYSE: MG) down 3.0%; reported Q3 EPS of $0.09, $0.08 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.17. Revenue for the quarter came in at $133.7 million versus the consensus estimate of $131.62 million.
Starwood Property Trust, Inc. (NYSE: STWD) down 2.6%; announced that it is offering 26,500,000 shares of its common stock in an underwritten public offering.
Alcoa, Inc. (NYSE: AA) down 1.1%; reported Q1 adjusted EPS of $0.11, versus the analyst estimate of $0.08. Revs of $5.83 billion, versus the consensus of $5.89 billion.
Ecolab Inc. (NYSE: ECL) down 0.7%; that it has entered into a consent agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), which has been filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia. As a result, Ecolab expects to complete the Champion acquisition within the next several days.
Monster Beverage Corporation (Nasdaq: MNST) up 0.5%; announced that its Board of Directors has authorized a new share repurchase program for the repurchase of up to $200 million of the Company's outstanding common stock.
