Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) CEO Meg Whitman wants to end naming rights HP Pavilion, the home of the San Jose Sharks. According to reports, Whitman is in advanced talks to hand them over to SAP (NYSE: SAP), saving the company $47 million over 15 years.
SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner is the majority owner of the Sharks, and is apparently a much bigger hockey fan than Whitman. According to sources cited by AllThingsD, when asked by Plattner if HP intended to hold onto naming rights through 2016, Whitman said, "Frankly, I’d like to get out of it."
