Billionaire investor Nelson Peltz has taken stakes in PepsiCo, Inc. (NYSE: PEP) and Mondelez International, Inc. (Nasdaq: MDLZ), according to reports in the Daily Telegraph. Stakes were purchased through Peltz's Trian Fund Management LP.
The size of the stakes are unknown. Peltz is known to take multi-billion dollar stakes.
He could also push for a merger of the two companies, said the Telegraph.
Both Pepsi and Mondelez are indicated for a higher open Friday following the chatter.
