Express (EXPR) Tops Q4 EPS by 1c; Issues Light Outlook for Q1, FY13

Express (NYSE: EXPR) reported Q4 EPS of $0.75, $0.01 better than the analyst estimate of $0.74. Revenue for the quarter came in at $728.7 million versus the consensus estimate of $722.38 million.

Comparable sales, which compares the fourteen week period ended February 2, 2013 to the fourteen week period ended February 4, 2012 and is inclusive of e-commerce sales, increased 1.5%, following a 5% increase in the fourth quarter of 2011.

Express sees Q1 2013 EPS of $0.34-$0.38, versus the consensus of $0.46. Sees comparable sales, including e-commerce, to range from flat to down low single digits compared to an increase of 4% in the first quarter of 2012.

Express sees FY2013 EPS of $1.40-$1.54, versus the consensus of $1.58. Sees comparable sales, including e-commerce, to increase low single digits compared to a flat performance in 2012.
