Arbitron (ARB) Segment Peers Slump as Nielsen (NLSN) Places Bid

Nielsen (NYSE: NLSN) is moving to acquire Arbitron (NYSE: ARB) for $48 per share, or a 26.2 percent premium from Arbitron's closing price of $38.04 on December 17th. The two will form one of the largest marketing information services companies, with annual revs expected to total about $6 billion.

Following the announcement, traders will be keeping an eye on industry peers, including comScore, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCOR), TiVo (Nasdaq: TIVO), Harris Interactive (Nasdaq: HPOL), Forrester Research (Nasdaq: FORR), Gartner (NYSE: IT), and others.
